Don't do this.

In all seriousness, we don't know whether or not the current cases of flu indicate that an epidemic or pandemic is coming, but this still might be a good time to assess our level of preparedness, not only for widespread illnesses, but for other emergencies as well.
First of all, it is important that we do what we can to keep our bodies strong and healthy by getting adequate rest, exercising, and eating healthy foods. Then we will want to be informed.
One of the measures that could protect us in a pandemic is a "reverse quarantine." This means that we would remain in our own homes with all family members to reduce the chance that we would be exposed to the illness.
Since a quarantine could last days, or even weeks or months, it is interesting that we have been counseled to store water plus three months of food our family normally eats (and then add long term storage items). What, besides food and water, would you want to have on hand if no one left your home to go shopping or to school or work or elsewhere for an extended period of time?

". . . let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed. " (D&C 123:17)
